Don't forget Pvt. Will Stockdale or Lonesome Rhodes. Quick, who was the copilot on the B-25 if the pilot was Will Hutchins of TV the series 'Sugarfoot' semi fame?
Almost forgot, if you can find 'Rustlers Rhapsody' starring Tom Berringer and Marilou Henner buy it!!!! The movie is a perfect send up of all those REPUBLIC 58 minute B&W 'B' Westerns (that I really love) with Griffith as the evil 'Colonel' head bad guy, and you'll fall off the couch at some of the double meaning lines and situations like everyone gets shot in the big gun duel, and then there they all are in the next scene @ the barbque

My favorite Andy Griffith role was in "Murder In Coweta County," a made-for-TV movie from 1983. The whole thing is actually on YouTube, and well worth a look. Griffith plays against type, as a real nasty bad guy.
The movie is based on a true story that happened in Georgia in 1948, when a wealthy land owner/moonshiner (played by Griffith) killed one of his tennant farmers for stealing a cow. Had he committed the murder in his own county (where he owned the sherriff and pretty much everything else) he would have gotten away with it, but he killed the guy in the neighboring county, and the sherriff there mounted a relentless campaign to bring him down. The Sheriff is played by Johnny Cash, who also turns in a stellar performance (his wife June Carter Cash has a small role as a backwoods fortune telller.) The case was notable because it was the first time a white man was convicted and executed based primarliy on the testimony of black witnesses (two hired hands who helped him dispose of the body.)
I watched the movie last week on YouTube, and even though I hadn't seen in over 25 years, it was just as good as i remembered.
