There is a nice article in the latest "Flight Journal" about "Pearl Harbor Heroes: P-40's vs. Zero's". By Barrett Tillman(past us-aircraft member). It's great to see some more information given to the public about some of the unknown and forgotten history on Pearl Harbor. In particular is pilot John Dains who made three sorties before being killed by friendly fire. He flew two sorties in P-40's and his third he switched to a P -36. He is credited with downing a Val. Although historians had to research to give him credit. Lt. Dains did not live long enough to report his victory over the Japanese. There are many brave pilots that flew during the battle. Not much is ever said of them but I am glad to see some light being given to America's first ww2 heroes.
